Convert WebP to JPG in Your Browser

Some upload forms, print shops and older apps still refuse WebP images. This converter turns them into ordinary JPG files on your own device: nothing is sent to our servers, and there is no account, credit cost or watermark. Add a batch, choose the quality and the color that fills transparent areas, then save the results one at a time or as a single ZIP.

Converter limits at a glance

What the tool accepts and what it hands back, so you can tell before you start whether your files will fit.

Input
WebP files only, still or animated. Anything else is turned away with a short message.
Output
Standard JPG. Each file keeps its original name with a new extension, so beach.webp becomes beach.jpg.
Files per batch
Up to 30 at once, added by drag and drop or through the file picker.
Size per file
Up to 25 MB for each WebP.
JPEG quality
Slider from 50 to 100, set to 90 when the page opens.
Background fill
Any color you choose, white by default. It replaces every transparent pixel.
Animated WebP
Only the first frame is converted; the rest of the animation is dropped.
Metadata
Not copied. EXIF details such as camera settings or GPS location do not end up in the JPG.
Devices and cost
Current browsers on Windows, macOS, Linux, iPhone, iPad and Android. Free, with no sign-in and no watermark.

How to convert WebP to JPG

Four steps, the same on a laptop as on a phone.

  1. Add your WebP files

Drag them onto the drop area, or click or tap it to open the file picker. On a phone the picker usually offers your photo library and the Files app. Up to 30 images fit in one batch, each no larger than 25 MB.

  2. Choose quality and background color

Leave quality at 90 for most photos, or push it toward 100 for screenshots with fine text. If any image has transparent parts, pick the color that should show through them; white is selected unless you change it.

  3. Let the batch convert

Conversion begins by itself as soon as files are added, and your browser works through them on your device. Each finished image shows its size before and after, so you can spot at once whether a JPG came out heavier than you would like.

  4. Download the JPGs

Save the files individually, or grab everything at once as a ZIP. Each JPG keeps the name of the WebP it came from, so the set matches your originals.

When a JPG is the file you need

WebP is everywhere on the web, yet plenty of places further down the line still expect a JPG.

WebP to JPG: questions and answers

Straight answers about privacy, quality and what changes during conversion.

01

Is my image uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser using its built-in canvas: the WebP is decoded on your device and the JPG is created there too. Your images are not sent to Sonata AI, so nothing is stored on our side.

02

Do I need an account, and does it use credits?

Neither. The converter works without signing in, it does not touch the credits used by the AI generators on Sonata AI, and the JPGs you download carry no watermark.

03

Is the conversion lossless?

No. JPEG is a lossy format, so some detail is discarded every time a file is written. At the default of 90 the difference is hard to see in most photos, and at 100 it is smaller still, but never zero. If you need a pixel-perfect copy, JPG is the wrong target.

04

Why is my JPG larger than the WebP?

WebP was designed to compress images more tightly than JPEG, so the same picture often needs more bytes as a JPG, and higher quality settings widen the gap. Check the before and after sizes shown with each result, and lower the slider if the file has to be smaller.

05

What happens to transparent areas?

JPG cannot store transparency, so every transparent pixel is filled with the background color you choose, which is white unless you change it. If you need the transparency itself, keep the WebP or save the image in a format such as PNG.

06

Can I convert an animated WebP?

You can, but only the first frame becomes the JPG. A JPG holds a single still image, so the motion is lost, and the tool cannot pick a later moment from the animation for you.

07

Are EXIF data and location kept?

No. Camera settings, capture date, GPS position and other metadata are not written into the new JPG. That helps your privacy when posting online, but if you sort your photo library by date, keep the original WebP as well.

08

Why was one of my files rejected?

The tool accepts WebP files only, up to 25 MB each. A PNG, a HEIC photo or a PDF is refused with a message, and an oversized file will not be converted. A batch holds up to 30 images, so split larger sets into several rounds.

09

Does it work on iPhone and Android?

Yes. Any current browser that can display WebP runs it, including Safari on iPhone and iPad, Chrome on Android and the usual desktop browsers on Windows, macOS and Linux. On an iPhone, downloads normally land in the Downloads folder of the Files app, and from there you can save an image to Photos.

10

When should I keep WebP instead?

For images on your own website, WebP usually loads faster because the files are smaller, and every current browser shows it. Keep it, too, when you need transparency or animation, and as your master copy. Convert only the copies going somewhere that insists on JPG.
